Healing through Creation
We often stand awe struck at the beauty of sunsets and the incredibly intricate and varied world in which we live. If we have eyes to see, we can see the hand of its Maker, ‘his divine nature seen through the things he has made’ (Romans 1v20). The heavens in fact declare the glory of God, day by day they pour forth speech, according to Psalm 19.
When God speaks, he heals, restores and renews. He speaks in many ways, including through his Word, and definitively through the person of Jesus Christ. But clearly he also speaks through nature. Many have come in these days to a place of healing and peace, even in the midst of our frenetic and busy world, through spending time in God’s creation.
The Christian farmer and conservationist Wendell Berry has famously said in one of his poems. ‘When despair for the world grows in me…I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water…I come into the peace of wild things.’
On this day, dedicated to exploring Healing through Creation, we will give time to look afresh at God’s amazing creation, to let him renew our sense of awe and wonder, and to invite him to bring healing to our souls.
These days are free of charge, but places are limited to 24 people per day, so booking is essential. We ask that you book one day only, with the option to join a waiting list for other days should spaces become available.
A minimum donation of £10 is requested to help cover the cost of lunch.
